Data storage
Memory is the space where data and programs are stored. Data in memory is accessed through instructions from the CPU. Memory in a computer system is classified into primary and secondary memory.
The user also needs a storage device to store media and other files that require large space. This problem is solved by storage devices that work based on magnetic, optical and solid-state principles.
This A Level Computer Science module introduces data storage to your students, explaining:
- RAM and ROM
- Different types of storage devices
- How data is stored and retrieved in these storage devices
- Usage of each type of storage device
- Choosing a storage device
